About the BYD Dolphin Surf (2025)
Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.
The Dolphin Surf is the European name for the model sold in China as the BYD Seagull and in Latin America as the Dolphin Mini. European launch was April 2025, with the first Dutch registration recorded in the RDW vehicle register on 15 May 2025. For Europe the body was lengthened to 3,990 mm, against 3,780 mm for the Asian version. Under the floor sits the LFP Blade battery (lithium iron phosphate) on the e-Platform 3.0. The RDW register lists the car with four seats and five doors.
In practice
Three trims are on the Dutch price list. Active: 30 kWh, 88 hp, 220 km WLTP, 15.5 kWh/100km, DC charging up to 65 kW. Boost: 43.2 kWh, 88 hp, 322 km WLTP, 15.6 kWh/100km, DC up to 85 kW. Comfort: 43.2 kWh, 156 hp, 310 km WLTP, 16.0 kWh/100km, DC up to 85 kW. All three take 11 kW on AC and reach 150 km/h. The 0-100 sprint takes 11.1 s (Active), 12.1 s (Boost) or 9.1 s (Comfort). All figures are manufacturer data, not measured by us. Boot 308 litres with the rear seats up, 1,037 litres folded. Kerb weight 1,369 to 1,465 kg depending on trim. The indicative starting price is 22,990 euro including VAT for the Active, a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.
Points to note
Towing weight is listed at 0 kg in the manufacturer data, so towing is not homologated. Four seats instead of five limits use as a family car; check the rear bench yourself at the official dealer. The 220 km WLTP of the entry trim is a factory figure under mild conditions, real world range is lower in winter and on the motorway. The model has been on the EU market too short a time for representative breakdown statistics, and the BYD service network in the Netherlands is still being built up.
