About the BMW 5 Series 530e (G60, 2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The G60 is the eighth 5 Series generation, introduced for 2023 with the fully electric i5 as the top variant. The 530e combines a petrol four-cylinder with an electric motor for about 299 hp system power. The 19.4 kWh net battery is large for the class and gives a WLTP electric range of about 103 km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us).

In practice

The WLTP combined consumption figure of 0.7 l/100km assumes a regularly charged battery; without charging owners report 7 to 8 l/100km (public forums, not measured by us). DC charging is not available, AC peaks at 11 kW. The braked towing weight of 2,000 kg is in line with the class. The indicative list price rose from about 73,500 euro (reference date early 2024) to 76,900 euro now; this is a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

PHEV economy depends on charging discipline; without daily plug-ins the consumption is close to that of a comparable petrol sedan. The boot of 410 litres is below average for the class because of the battery. The new curved display moves nearly all functions to the screen; whether that works pleasantly is a matter of taste, check it on a test drive at the official dealer.
