About the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300e (X254, 2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The X254 is the second GLC generation, introduced for 2022. The GLC 300e combines a petrol four-cylinder with an integrated electric motor for about 313 hp system power. The 24.8 kWh net battery is exceptionally large for a PHEV and gives a WLTP electric range of about 130 km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us).

In practice

The WLTP combined consumption figure of 0.5 l/100km assumes a regularly charged battery; without charging owners report 8 to 9 l/100km (public forums, not measured by us). DC charging is available at up to 60 kW, AC peaks at 11 kW. The braked towing weight of 2,000 kg is decent for the class. The indicative list price rose from about 71,500 euro (reference date early 2024) to 74,500 euro now; this is a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

PHEV economy depends on charging discipline; without daily plug-ins the consumption approaches that of a comparable petrol SUV. The large battery costs boot volume and weight; the GLC 300e is heavier than the petrol GLC. The MBUX system moves nearly all functions to the central screen; whether that works pleasantly is a matter of taste, check it on a test drive at the official dealer.
