About the Kia Sportage hybrid (2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

In this version the Sportage runs a full-hybrid drivetrain: a 1.6 T-GDi petrol engine with an electric motor and small battery, together around 215 hp system output. The car is technically closely related to the Hyundai Tucson, but has its own bodywork and interior. WLTP consumption is about 5.7 l/100km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). There is also a plug-in hybrid; this page is about the regular hybrid.

In practice

At 587 l the boot is roomy, slightly larger than the Tucson's. Over a full year, including motorway trips, owners report mixed around 6.5 l/100km (owner forums, n≈16, not measured by us); that is above the WLTP figure, as is usual for hybrids with a high motorway share. The braked towing weight is 1,650 kg. The indicative list price rose from about 40,995 euro (peildatum early 2024) to 42,495 euro now, a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

The consumption advantage of the full-hybrid shows mainly in city and back-road traffic; on the motorway consumption approaches that of a regular petrol version. The Sportage and the Tucson share much of their technology; compare above all boot space, equipment and real-world consumption against your own driving profile.
