About the Kia Carens (2024)
Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.
The Carens KY is a compact seven-seat MPV based on the Hyundai-Kia K2 platform. It launched in 2022 for India and parts of Southeast Asia. In the EU the Carens nameplate has been on uitloop (run-out) since the previous RP generation; the KY is sold by selected importers and varies in spec by country. This entry uses the international 1.5 T-GDI petrol around 140 hp. WLTP equivalent consumption stands at about 6.5 l/100km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us).
In practice
The boot is 216 l behind the third row, which folds flat to over 600 l for two-row use. The MPV body delivers a noticeably easier entry than an equivalent SUV and offers genuine seven-seat use for short and medium trips. Owners report real-world consumption in mixed use that is 0.5 to 1.2 l above WLTP (international forums, not measured by us). The indicative list price rose from about 28,995 euro (peildatum early 2024) to 29,995 euro now, a from-price, no offer and no forecast.
Points to note
Availability differs strongly by EU market; check directly with Kia whether and how this generation is offered in your country. Safety scores vary by market because of different equipment standards; the Euro-NCAP-equivalent rating is not directly comparable with the Global NCAP rating for India. The braked towing weight of 1,300 kg is reasonable for an MPV of this format.
