Who they are

A short write-up on each car, one paragraph apiece. We describe them on their own terms rather than picking a winner.

Profile · KY (2022+)

Kia Carens

Compact seven-seat MPV on the KY generation, limited availability in EU markets. The common petrol version is a 1.5 T-GDI around 140 hp; WLTP equivalent consumption around 6.5 l/100km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us and based on international spec). Boot 216 l behind the third row, seven seats. Indicative from-price; check availability and the official configurator for your market.

Profile · II 2.0 TDI (NU, 2024)

Skoda Kodiaq

Second-generation seven-seat SUV on the MQB-evo platform. Strong points are the braked towing weight (2,000 kg) and the optional third seat row. The 2.0 TDI returns WLTP 5.7 l/100km; owners report 6-7 l/100km in practice (public forums, not measured by us). Boot 340 l with the third row folded and in use, considerably more with that row folded down (manufacturer figure).
