About the Hyundai i20 (2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The i20 is a B-segment hatchback that competes with the Volkswagen Polo and Renault Clio. The 2024 facelift brought a revised grille, new bumpers, fresh light signatures and a slightly updated infotainment. The common engine is a 1.0 T-GDI three-cylinder with 48V mild-hybrid support around 100 hp. WLTP consumption stands at about 5.4 l/100km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us).

In practice

The boot is 352 l, generous for the segment and useful for weekly groceries plus a small suitcase. The car has five seats; the rear bench is suited to two adults on shorter trips. Owners report real-world consumption in mixed use that is 0.4 to 1.0 l above WLTP, depending on the motorway share (public forums, not measured by us). The indicative list price rose from about 21,995 euro (peildatum early 2024) to 22,995 euro now, a from-price, no offer and no forecast.

Points to note

The braked towing weight of 1,110 kg is modest, enough for a small trailer but not for a caravan of any size. On the motorway the small engine works audibly harder than a comparable Polo 1.0 TSI, partly because of the three-cylinder character; consider a test drive on your fixed route. Kia offers a 7-year warranty on the closely related Rio, the i20 sticks to Hyundai's 5-year warranty.
