What owners report elsewhere about the Clio

This is a summary of public forums, not verified by us and not a first-party review. Recurring points: the real-world fuel consumption of the TCe 90 is reported by owners at around 5.8-6.5 l/100km, higher than the 5.4 l/100km WLTP, especially in city traffic and with a cold engine. Positives in the posts: a spacious boot for the class, the interior finish and the infotainment; criticism concerns the somewhat sluggish manual TCe 90 under full load and the price increase of the most recent model years. Roomy small car, engine could use more punch · 4/5

Anonieme eigenaar · 2026-02-27

Family-car replacement for two people, around 14,000 km per year mixed driving. Real-world consumption around 6.2 l/100km, a tenth higher in the city, under 6 on quiet country roads. The boot surprised me positively; for a car this size it holds a lot. The interior feels more polished than I expected in this class. The downside is the TCe 90: when fully loaded or on a hill you have to downshift, it is not brisk. Fine for the city and commuting, but for a lot of motorway driving I would choose a stronger engine.

Roomy boot for the class, but you have to rev the engine · 4/5

Anonieme eigenaar · 2026-02-27

Family with one child, used mostly in the city and the region plus the occasional motorway trip, around 14,000 km per year. The strong point is the boot: 391 l is roomy for a B-segment car, the pushchair plus groceries fit without any puzzling. Real-world consumption around 6.2 l/100km mixed, higher than the WLTP figure of 5.4 but normal for the class. The 90 hp three-cylinder is enough in the city, but when merging onto the motorway or loaded on a hill you have to rev it hard and then it becomes audible. The interior finish is neater than I expected from the segment. Small downside: the rear bench is cramped for adults and the infotainment sometimes glitches when pairing the phone. No faults in the first year.

Economical enough for commuting, comfort on poor road surfaces mediocre · 3/5

Anonieme eigenaar · 2026-04-15

Mainly commuting on provincial roads, roughly 24,000 km per year. On a quiet cruise around 100 km/h I get 5.6-5.9 l/100km, in the city closer to 6.8. Over a full year I am around 6.2, reasonably close to what I expected. The car is light and steers nimbly, parking is easy. What stands out to me after a year: on poorly maintained asphalt the short wheelbase shows itself, the rear axle reacts harshly to transverse joints and long drives then become tiring. The stop-start system sometimes restarts a bit roughly before a traffic light. Noise from the three-cylinder when accelerating is present but not bothersome when driving calmly. No unexpected repairs, only the regular maintenance.

About the Renault Clio V TCe (2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The TCe 90 is the entry petrol: 90 hp, three cylinders, manual. The TCe 100 (same 1.0 block, tuned higher) comes out at comparable consumption. The Clio is on the CMF-B platform, shared with the Captur among others. The 2023 facelift mainly changed the front and the infotainment, not the powertrain.

In practice

WLTP is around 5.4 l/100km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). On the motorway owners report closer to 6-6.5 l/100km, mixed average around 6.2 (owner forums, n≈25, not measured by us). The indicative list price rose from about 20,990 euros (reference date early 2024) to 22,390 euros now, a starting price, no offer and no forecast.

Points to note

The TCe 90 is on the tight side at 90 hp under full load; the braked towing weight of 1,100 kg is limited. The lower-priced Authentic level lacks a number of driver assistance systems, check the equipment list at the official dealer. The manual has five gears on the TCe 90; with many motorway kilometres the engine therefore runs at a higher engine speed, which keeps consumption at the upper end of the reported margin. In the rear the space for the B-segment is average, the boot of 391 l roomy for the class.
