About the Audi Q5 (FY facelift, 40 TFSI mild hybrid)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The Q5 (FY) has been on the market since 2017, with a facelift in 2020, and sits on the MLB-evo platform. Sister models are the Audi A4 and the Audi A5. The 40 TFSI is the common petrol: a 2.0 four-cylinder with 48V mild hybrid and 204 hp, via a 7-speed S tronic with quattro all-wheel drive as standard. Above it sits the 50 TFSI e PHEV, below it a 35 TDI diesel where still on offer.

In practice

WLTP figure is around 7.8 l/100km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). In mixed use owners report 8.5-9.5 l/100km (owner forums, not measured by us); motorway above 120 km/h sits higher, short city trips too. Braked towing weight 2,400 kg, ample for the segment. Boot 520 l, to around 1,520 l with the rear bench folded. The indicative starting price rose from about 61,500 euro (reference date early 2024) to 64,950 euro now, a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

The 48V mild hybrid supports the petrol engine but does not drive independently on electricity; expect no plug-in consumption. The platform is mature and the generation is approaching the end of its cycle; a successor (named Q5 e on a new platform) is coming. The infotainment was renewed at the facelift but still uses two screens with mostly touch; check on a test drive at the official dealer.
