In depth

Strong points are a low real-world consumption and the Toyota hybrid reliability reputation; weak point the limited availability per EU market (Camry supply varies by country) and no braked towing weight (0 kg, not suitable for a trailer).

About the Toyota Camry Hybrid (2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The Camry is Toyota's global D-segment sedan, dominant in the US but with limited deliveries in several EU markets. The XV70 generation since 2017 is offered in Europe only as a full-hybrid (no plug-in, no petrol-only). System power is 218 hp from a 2.5 petrol engine plus electric motor on the e-CVT. The boot of 524 litres is large for the class, but the braked towing weight is 0 kg on official EU specification, the car is not homologated for a trailer.

In practice

WLTP is 5.3 l/100km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). Like the Corolla Hybrid, owners report low real-world consumption in mixed traffic, often under 6 l/100km; mixed around 5.6 l/100km is reported on owner forums (n approx 25, not measured by us). On the motorway the hybrid advantage shrinks. The indicative list price rose from about 40,495 euro (peildatum early 2024) to 41,995 euro now; this is a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

Check current availability and lead time with the official Toyota dealer in your market, Camry supply varies. The XV70 generation is mature, so the interior and infotainment are older than on recent rivals; updates arrived through model-year refreshes, not a full new generation. The trailer ban (0 kg braked) excludes caravan use.
