About the Cupra Terramar (2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The Terramar is Cupra's mid-size SUV, technically a sibling to the new Audi Q3 and VW Tiguan on the MQB Evo platform. Production is at VW Audi Hungaria in Gyor. The engine range covers petrol mild-hybrid (1.5 eTSI 150 PS), a 4Drive petrol (2.0 TSI 265 PS) and two PHEV outputs (e-Hybrid 204 PS and the VZ e-Hybrid 272 PS), all front-wheel drive except the 2.0 TSI 4Drive.

In practice

The PHEV pairs a 1.5 TSI with an electric motor and a 19.7 kWh net battery (25.8 kWh gross). Electric WLTP range is up to 100-126 km depending on version (manufacturer figure, not measured by us); in practice owners of comparable PHEVs report clearly less, especially in winter and on the motorway (public forums, not measured by us). Boot capacity is 540 litres on the petrol versions; the PHEV gives up roughly 100 litres for the battery pack. The indicative German starting price is 43,020 euro for the 1.5 eTSI; the e-Hybrid VZ 272 PS starts at around 56,310 euro, a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

The Terramar is new for late 2024, so long-term reliability data on this specific application of the MQB Evo platform has yet to accumulate. The PHEV battery has its own warranty conditions; check on the configurator and at the official dealer. For the 2.0 TSI 4Drive note that braked towing and trailer prep are an option pack on most VW Group MQB Evo cars, verify it for your intended use.
