About the Audi A4 Avant (B9 facelift, 35 TFSI)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The A4 Avant (B9) has been on the market since 2015, got a facelift in 2019 and forms the basis until Audi switches the name to A5 (Avant) from the 2025 generation. The platform (MLB-evo) is shared with the A5 and the A6. The 35 TFSI is the common entry petrol: a 2.0 four-cylinder with 48V mild hybrid, 150 hp, via a 7-speed S tronic.

In practice

WLTP figure is around 6.3 l/100km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). In mixed use owners report 7-8 l/100km (owner forums, not measured by us); motorway consumption above 120 km/h is higher. Braked towing weight 1,900 kg, ample for the segment. Boot 495 l, around 1,495 l with the rear bench folded. The indicative starting price rose from about 49,500 euro (reference date early 2024) to 51,950 euro now, a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

The B9 generation is mature but the platform also dates from the mid-2010s; expect a successor under the A5 name from 2025 and a price shift accordingly. Check standard equipment per trim level at the official dealer: the entry level is sober compared to direct competitors. The S tronic occasionally shifts jerkily at low speed according to owners (owner reports, not tested by us).
