About the Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W177, 2024)

Independent spec and rating reference. No offers, no sales.

The W177 is Mercedes' entry model and shares the front-wheel-drive platform with the B-Class, CLA and GLA. The 2023 facelift added a 48V mild-hybrid on the petrol engines and renewed the MBUX system. The A 200 delivers about 163 hp through a 7-speed automatic.

In practice

The WLTP figure is about 6.0 l/100km (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). In mixed use owners report 6.5-7.5 l/100km (owner forums, not measured by us); short city trips are higher. The braked towing weight of 1,500 kg is average for the class. The indicative list price rose from about 36,400 euro (peildatum early 2024) to 38,500 euro now; this is a starting price, not an offer and not a forecast.

Points to note

The boot of about 370 litres is on the tight side for the segment; check this against your actual luggage needs. Rear space is limited for adults in the back because of the sloping roofline. The 48V mild-hybrid supports the petrol engine but does not drive independently on electricity; expect no plug-in consumption.
