Who they are

A short write-up on each car, one paragraph apiece. We describe them on their own terms rather than picking a winner.

Profile · III C Hybrid 136 (2024+)

Peugeot 3008

Third-generation 3008 (2024), a coupe-like C-segment SUV on the Stellantis STLA-Medium platform. The entry powertrain is the Hybrid 136: a 1.2 three-cylinder turbo with 48V mild-hybrid support and a dual-clutch, not a plug-in (listed separately). WLTP consumption around 5.9 l/100km (manufacturer figure indicative). Boot 520 l. Indicative starting price, check the official configurator for the current figure.

Profile · I (P54, 2022+, Hybrid 225 e-EAT8)

Peugeot 408

Crossover fastback on the EMP2 platform, technically related to the 308. The Hybrid 225 is a plug-in hybrid with a 12.4 kWh pack and about 64 km WLTP electric range (manufacturer figure, indicative). The WLTP consumption of around 1.2 l/100km applies only with a full battery; with an empty battery the 408 drives as a 1.6 turbo petrol carrying battery weight, closer to 6.4 l/100km. Indicative starting price, check the official configurator.
