Who they are

A short write-up on each car, one paragraph apiece. We describe them on their own terms rather than picking a winner.

Profile · CV, facelift (2024)

Kia EV6

Electric crossover by Kia, related to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and built on the same high-voltage architecture (800 volt), which allows fast charging up to 258 kW. 2024 facelift with a larger 84 kWh battery. WLTP range 528 km for the rear-wheel-drive Long Range (manufacturer figure). That charging peak is high; a 10-80% charge takes about 18 minutes (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). Indicative from-price; check the official configurator for the current figure.

Profile · 2024

Volkswagen ID.4

Family SUV on the MEB platform. 550 km WLTP, 77 kWh, 286 hp; braked towing weight 1,200 kg. Infotainment was slow at launch, partly resolved with the 2024 software update. Owners report winter consumption 20-25% above WLTP (public forums, n≈21; not measured by us).
