Who they are

A short write-up on each car, one paragraph apiece. We describe them on their own terms rather than picking a winner.

Profile · eerste generatie (EU-spec 2025+, E-GMP 400V)

Kia EV5

Mid-size electric SUV on the E-GMP platform in 400V architecture (no 800V fast charging like the EV6/EV9). EU debut July 2025, sales started in the final quarter of 2025. Single-motor FWD with 81.4 kWh battery, about 530 km WLTP, 218 hp (manufacturer figure). DC charging peaks around 150 kW; 10-80% in about 30 minutes (manufacturer figure, not measured by us). 566 l boot, 1,200 kg braked towing weight. Indicative from-price for the Netherlands; check the official configurator for the current figure.

Profile · Long Range AWD (2024)

Tesla Model Y

Electric mid-size SUV, technically related to the Model 3. Strong points are the charging speed (up to 250 kW) and the large luggage volume (854 l incl. underfloor bin and front boot). WLTP 533 km with the 75 kWh pack; owners report 15-25% less range in winter (public forums, not measured by us). Braked towing weight 1,600 kg (manufacturer figure).
