Who they are

A short write-up on each car, one paragraph apiece. We describe them on their own terms rather than picking a winner.

Profile · EV Extended Range RWD (2024-, MEB)

Ford Explorer

Electric mid-size SUV on the Volkswagen Group MEB platform. European-only model, production in Cologne (DE); technically related to the ID.4. Extended Range RWD manages around 522 km WLTP with a 77 kWh net battery and 286 hp. DC charging peaks around 170 kW.

Profile · Mk4 1.5 EcoBlue diesel (2018-2022)

Ford Focus

C-segment hatchback, fourth generation on the C2 platform. The 1.5 EcoBlue diesel with 120 hp was delivered between 2018 and around 2022; after that the diesel disappeared from the Dutch range. Reference model for spec look-up and switch orientation from an older model. WLTP consumption around 4.4 l/100km (manufacturer figure, indicative); diesel stays economical over long distance. No new price and no buy button, we are not a marketplace.
