Who they are

A short write-up on each car, one paragraph apiece. We describe them on their own terms rather than picking a winner.

Profile · EV Extended Range RWD (2024-, MEB)

Ford Capri

Electric coupe-SUV on the Volkswagen Group MEB platform, shared with the ID.5 and the Ford Explorer EV. Production in Cologne (DE). The Extended Range RWD manages around 627 km WLTP with a 77 kWh net battery and a 286 hp rear motor. Revival of an old nameplate in EV form.

Profile · Mk4 1.5 EcoBlue diesel (2018-2022)

Ford Focus

C-segment hatchback, fourth generation on the C2 platform. The 1.5 EcoBlue diesel with 120 hp was delivered between 2018 and around 2022; after that the diesel disappeared from the Dutch range. Reference model for spec look-up and switch orientation from an older model. WLTP consumption around 4.4 l/100km (manufacturer figure, indicative); diesel stays economical over long distance.
