Who they are

A short write-up on each car, one paragraph apiece. We describe them on their own terms rather than picking a winner.

Profile · CD CUV facelift (2022+)

Kia XCeed

Compact crossover on the Ceed platform, plug-in hybrid variant. 1.6 GDI plus electric motor with 8.9 kWh battery around 141 hp system; electric WLTP range 48 km. The WLTP figure of 1.3 l/100km applies only with a full battery. With an empty battery the car drives like a hybrid; then count on 5-6 l/100km (owner figure, not measured by us). Indicative from-price; check the official configurator for the current figure.

Profile · 1.8 Hybrid (AX20, tweede generatie)

Toyota C-HR

Full-hybrid crossover without a plug, second generation (2023). Strong point is a low urban fuel use and the Toyota hybrid reliability reputation; weak point is the modest rear space and the low towing weight (725 kg braked). Indicative starting price.
